Pacific Northwest
From the Cascade Range to the Alaska Highway, Rock Supremacy has been protecting Pacific Northwest infrastructure since 2011. Our Western Division headquarters in Bend, Oregon positions us for rapid response across Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, and Alaska.
Serving the Pacific Northwest
The Pacific Northwest presents some of North America's most challenging geotechnical conditions. Volcanic geology, high rainfall, freeze-thaw cycles, and seismic activity combine to create persistent slope stability challenges. Our crews have developed specialized expertise in the unique rock types and soil conditions found throughout the region, from the basalt cliffs of the Columbia River Gorge to the metamorphic terrain of the Alaska Panhandle.

What We Do in the Pacific Northwest
Comprehensive geotechnical services tailored to the unique geological and environmental challenges of the Pacific Northwest.
Rockfall Mitigation
Comprehensive rockfall protection including scaling, mesh systems, barriers, and attenuators for highways, railways, and critical infrastructure.
Learn MoreSlope Stabilization
Soil nail walls, rock bolting, tieback anchors, and shotcrete systems to stabilize unstable slopes and prevent landslides.
Learn MoreEarth Retention Systems
Soldier pile walls, secant pile walls, MSE walls, and H-pile walls for excavation support and permanent retention.
Drainage Solutions
Horizontal drains and weep drain systems to manage groundwater and reduce hydrostatic pressure on slopes and walls.
Foundation Support
Micropiles, underpinning, and deep foundation solutions for new construction and existing structure stabilization.
Learn MoreTunnel Rehabilitation
Tunnel lining repair, portal stabilization, and structural rehabilitation for rail and highway tunnels.
Learn MorePacific Northwest Geology
The Pacific Northwest's geology is dominated by volcanic activity, glacial deposits, and active tectonics. This creates a unique set of challenges for geotechnical construction:
- Cascade Volcanics: Basalt flows, volcanic ash deposits, and unstable pumice soils require specialized rock bolting and drainage solutions.
- Columbia Basin Basalts: Columnar basalt formations along the Columbia River Gorge present unique scaling and mesh installation challenges.
- Coastal Sediments: Marine sediments along the Pacific coast are prone to erosion and landslides, especially during winter storm seasons.
- Glacial Till: Puget Sound region glacial deposits create variable soil conditions requiring soil nailing and careful site assessment.
- Alaska Metamorphics: The rugged terrain of Southeast Alaska features metamorphic rock with complex joint patterns and high precipitation, often requiring draped mesh systems and rockfall barriers.
Our teams have developed proven techniques for each of these geological environments, allowing us to deliver reliable solutions across the diverse Pacific Northwest landscape.
Proven Results in the Pacific Northwest
See how we've delivered solutions for DOTs, railroads, and municipalities across the Pacific Northwest.
US-95 Riggins Emergency Response
Emergency response to major rockslide blocking US-95. Our crews deployed for all-hands operations while the slope continued to move, using controlled blasting, scaling, and cable netting to reopen this critical highway.
Skagway Port Rockfall Protection
Comprehensive rockfall mitigation protecting Alaska's busiest cruise port from an active 800-foot slope. Completed in a single winter season before the 2023 tourism season using helicopter operations.
Highway 75 Sawtooth Scaling
Large-scale rock scaling and mesh installation along 3 miles of Highway 75. Removed over 1,500 tons of loose rock and installed 42,000 square feet of high-tensile mesh.
Terwilliger Plaza Stabilization
Stabilized an 80-foot rock face adjacent to a high-rise residential building using soil nails, shotcrete, and horizontal drains, all with zero disruption to building residents.
