Challenge

The Problem

An active landslide threatened both the historic hot springs pools and the adjacent highway. The slope showed 2-3 inches of annual movement. The solution needed to preserve the natural hot springs flow while providing long-term stability.

Solution

Our Approach

Rock Supremacy designed and installed a tiered soil nail wall system with horizontal drains to reduce pore water pressure. The design incorporated thermal considerations to avoid disrupting the geothermal water flow to the springs.

Results

The Outcome

Slope movement has been reduced to less than 0.1 inch annually. The hot springs continue to flow naturally, and the resort has been able to expand operations with confidence in the slope stability.
