The Problem

A major rockslide blocked US-95, completely closing this critical north-south corridor. The situation was extremely hazardous as the hill continued to slide even while crews were working. ITD needed the highway reopened as quickly as possible while managing ongoing slope instability.

Solution

Our Approach

Partnering with Idaho Transportation Department, Rock Supremacy deployed an all-hands-on-deck response. We used controlled blasting to remove unstable material, performed extensive scaling to clear loose rock, and reinforced the slope with cable netting bolted directly into the rock face to prevent future failures.

Results

The Outcome

The highway was successfully reopened and the slope has remained stable. The cable netting system continues to protect the corridor from rockfall events years after installation.
