The Problem

Routine inspection revealed significant delamination of the tunnel crown with active spalling creating a safety hazard. The tunnel carries 40+ trains daily and complete closure was not feasible. Repair had to occur in 2-hour nighttime windows.

Solution

Our Approach

Rock Supremacy developed a rapid-deployment system using pre-fabricated steel sets and quick-setting shotcrete. Crews worked in coordinated 2-hour blocks, installing systematic support and applying shotcrete in alternating sections.

Results

The Outcome

All repairs were completed in 6 weeks without any unplanned service disruptions. Load testing confirmed the rehabilitated sections exceed original design capacity.
